Hello darling! Welcome to Le Blog. If you’re new here, hi! My name is Chloe. I’m a client relationship strategist, which means I am an expert at creating smooth client experiences that leave your clients singing your praises. If all of this sounds like gibberish, you should check out my blog What is a CRM & Why You Need One. But if you’re nodding your head like all of this makes perfect sense, you’re in the right place. Today’s blog is all about Dubsado for Photographers: why it matters, how it changes your business, and what you can do right now to elevate your client experience.
So pour yourself some coffee (or wine, let’s treat ourselves) and we’ll dive right in!

Let’s make something clear: I think everyone in the wedding industry needs a CRM, period. But if you’re a photographer, you’re quite literally getting hired based on your visual aesthetic, personality, and ultimately, the way you make your couples feel.
I’m willing to bet your Instagram is gorgeous and your website shows off all your incredible photos. But if your client experience after inquiry is a basic Google form and sporadic email exchanges? You’re missing a massive opportunity to showcase your work throughout the entire client journey. Your clients should experience your visual brand and professionalism from the moment they inquire until they receive their final gallery.
But your CRM is more than just a pretty face. It is also the best administrative tool you could ask for. When you decided your package prices, you probably didn’t factor in the sheer amount of administrative work you put in. Back-and-forth emails scheduling (and rescheduling) sessions, planning calls, and manually sending invoice reminders… Automating these admin tasks could save you hours each week, giving you more time to focus on your art!

The title of this blog has two parts. The first part is about elevating your business. The second part is about charging more. This section covers both of these, I promise.
Imagine: you wrap up a consult call, send a single email that’s already written in your voice, and that one action sets off a complete client experience. Follow-ups go out automatically. Onboarding emails send themselves. Questionnaires arrive in your couple’s inbox at exactly the right moment. Planning calls get scheduled without the back-and-forth. Your couples move smoothly through your process while you focus on actually photographing weddings instead of managing your inbox. When you stop carrying around that mental checklist of “did I remember to send the timeline questionnaire?” and “did I follow up with the Johnsons?”, you suddenly have brain space to think about the parts of your business that actually excite you.
The next thing that happens? You no longer have a running checklist in your brain, trying to make sure you’ve followed up with everyone, sent that proposal, received the deposit, sent the correct timeline to the right client… the list goes on. Now your CRM is doing all of this for you. When that cognitive load disappears, you suddenly have space to think about expansion: mentorship opportunities, adding new session types, becoming a destination photographer, or traveling more with your family. The business you thought was ten years in the future might be closer than you think.
But beyond all of that, when your client experience matches the calibre of work you deliver, your confidence SOARS. Photographers frequently tell me they finally feel like they’re stepping into a legitimate business. Like they’ve “made it.” And here’s the tangible proof: clients typically start charging 30% more within 6 months of working together. That means the ROI happens FAST—you’re not just paying for a pretty system, you’re investing in something that pays for itself almost immediately.
If you’ve been in the industry for a while, you’ve likely heard the debate of “Honeybook Versus Dubsado”. I have a whole blog on that (you can read it here!), so I’m just going to focus on the photographer-specific elements. First of all, I do offer fully custom setups for both Honeybook and Dubsado. However, I haven’t had a client want a Honeybook setup in over a year, and there are valid reasons why.
Last year, Honeybook raised its prices and updated a slew of new features. Unfortunately, most of those features aren’t helpful for anyone in the wedding industry, least of all photographers. Plus, most of the updates rely on AI. No matter how you feel about AI in general, it’s just not particularly helpful in this scenario… making many Honeybook users wonder if it’s worth continuing to pay for.
If you’ve recently invested in a website rebrand or custom branding, you’ve paid good money for a cohesive visual identity. It would be a real shame if your CRM just couldn’t keep up. Honeybook’s SmartFiles are pretty limited in how much you can customize and brand them. Meanwhile, Dubsado allows you to personalize every element of your client experience. With custom CSS and HTML coding, your forms can look like an exact extension of your website.
Getting into a Honeybook client portal requires an email confirmation, a confirmation code, and two-factor authentication. While some people may love the extra security Honeybook requires, wedding planners who work with multiple vendors HATE this. I hear about it constantly. They talk about it in Facebook groups. It’s a legitimate pain point. Dubsado’s portal? Clean, simple access.
Beyond the visual branding, Dubsado gives you control over the small details that make a big difference. Automatic scheduling integrates seamlessly with your calendar. Invoice reminders can be customized to sound like you, not a collections agency. Even your payment notifications can be personalized to feel warm instead of transactional. Every single touchpoint becomes an opportunity to reinforce that your clients made the right choice in hiring you.

If you’re considering investing in a custom CRM set-up, you probably have questions. Good! This is a big change, and I want you to feel excited and confident about every aspect. Here are some of the most common questions I receive, and I hope these answers help!
Yes, darling, you really can. Think about it this way: When your client experience is elevated from inquiry to delivery, you’re no longer competing on price—you’re competing on value and experience. Professional, branded proposals and seamless communication show clients that you’re worth premium pricing. Most of my photographer clients increase their rates by around 30% within 6 months. Why? Because they finally have the confidence and systems to support higher prices.
You’re not alone! So many wedding pros want to maintain the personal touch in their client communication. To start with, we don’t need to automate everything. We can build custom workflows that touch each step of your client journey, but YOU maintain control over when things are sent.
And when you do automate some emails, I guarantee they will not sound robotic. I work with a professional copywriter who writes custom emails in your brand voice to make sure every automated message sounds authentic, not like a generic template.
Right before your busy season is the ideal time. It gives you a chance to get comfortable with the new system, learn the platform, and work out any kinks before you’re slammed with inquiries. For wedding photographers, that typically means late fall/winter before the spring wedding season hits. Don’t wait until you’re drowning—invest when you have bandwidth to actually learn and implement a new system.
That’s exactly why you hire someone to set it up for you! The whole point is that we build the system, train you on how to use it, and create tutorials you can reference anytime. You don’t need to know how to code or understand complex automation—you just need to know how to click a few buttons. Plus, ongoing support is included in every package, so you’re never left figuring things out alone.

If you’re ready to elevate your business and start charging more, it might be time for a custom Dubsado setup. For established wedding photographers, I genuinely recommend my fully custom packages, The Refined or The Signature. These packages give you custom CSS and HTML-coded forms that perfectly match your website, so your client experience is cohesive from the very start. This is HUGE for photographers, especially if you’ve been feeling cringe about sending generic (or even ugly) forms to your clients. Now, you can be proud of every beautifully branded resource you send.
If you’re a new photographer who wants to build a solid foundation to expand on later, I recommend the Single, the semi-custom build. This package uses all the strategy and framework we’ve developed over 5 years of doing this work. We’ve already created battle-tested workflows and email sequences, and we’ll customize one proposal and one questionnaire to your brand.
If you’re still not sure, take it from a fellow photographer:
“I have to do VERY little, and my clients still get a very tailored and personal experience from me. My workflows are set up so they are easy to manage when I have to trigger something. The BEST part are my FORMS! They are MORE than I had even expected. When I signed on for the service I was confident I’d get good forms and workflows. But I feel like I got WAY more than I was expecting with both. I like to think that I got catfished but in the BEST way. Chloe went above and beyond what I even knew was possible to have my forms look and feel like the rest of my brand. Everything is beautifully consistent. I cannot hype enough about how much I love my forms.”
